IU Northwest Science Olympiad

On Saturday February 15, 2014 IU Northwest hosted its 13th annual Science Olympiad Regional tournament.  All 23 B and C division events were offered as well as three B and three C division trial events.  The primary goal of our tournament is for students to experience a fun day while doing science. A secondary goal is to find out what teams will advance to the state tournament at IU Bloomington. Advancing will be based on team placement in events. Trial events are strictly for fun; medals will be awarded, however they will not count for overall team placement.

IU Northwest had a great time hosting all teams. Five B diveision and four C division teams advance to the state tournament at IU Bloomington on March 22. One additional team from each division will advance to the Wildcard tournament at Ball state on March 8. Advancing to the state tournament are (High School) Chesterton, Valparaiso, Canterbury, Rennselaer; (Middle School) Thomas Jefferson, Chesterton, Clifford Pierce, Kahler, St. Thomas More. Advancing to the Wildcard tournament are Portage High School and St. Mary Middle School.  congratulations to all schools that participated and our best wishes to all schools advancing.
