Students, faculty, staff and alumni tell us what they are most thankful for

From family, to friends, and freedom, nearly 50 individuals from the IU Northwest campus community recently shared what they are most thankful for this Thanksgiving season via IU Northwest’s Facebook page. We’ve re-published select responses below.

The Office of Marketing and Communications thanks you for sharing your thoughts with us, and for reminding IU Northwest of how very fortunate we all are for having such a supportive base of students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

  • Chancellor William Lowe: Being able to see our students each day and watch them make the campus their own
  • Jeri Pat Gabbert (Vice Chancellor of University Advancement and External Affairs): Being a part of the IU Northwest community.
  • Larissa Dragu (Student Government Association President): The life I've been given to love and serve people, and I thank God for my family and friends without whom I wouldn't be where I'm at today.  
  • Matt Lawson (SGA Vice President): My family and friends that I can count on no matter what the situation! 
  • Azaz Mehmood (SGA Secretary): My wonderful family and friends. #trulyblessed
  • Jaclyn O'Connell (SGA Treasurer): My beautiful family and my wonderful friends. I am also thankful for all the opportunities that have been presented to me here at IU Northwest, helping me achieve my ultimate goal of going to medical school.
  • Hasan Issa (SGA Senator): To be surrounded by such loving friends and family.
  • Jessica Palfi (SGA Senator): The support from my family and friends for the dreams I have, opportunities that have been presented to me through IUN to better myself and achieve my dreams and goals for life, and being able to make others smile each day and make a difference in their lives.
  • Kaitlin Salinas (SGA Senator): My dad serving our country in the Navy, along with all our veterans. I am also thankful for my education, and of course my family and friends. 
  • Steven Torres (SGA Senator): Having the opportunity to receive a higher education.
  • April VanMilligan (SGA Senator): The opportunities my family has continuously provided for me and the many opportunities my university has provided for me.
  • Krystyn H.: My family and being able to pursue my degree at IUN!

  • Terrence T.: IUN accepting me to the university and giving me the opportunity to demonstrate my academic abilities! I have been amazed at the assistance I have received from teachers and they are assisting me get one step closer to completing my bachelor’s program in CIS!
  • Kayla V.: Living in a place where I can go to such a great school and be educated. I’m also thankful for every teacher, friend and relative who helped me get to IUN.

  • Zachary M.: The intensity of the Biology department. Getting a BS in Biology has allowed me to succeed in graduate school and create unique research projects in Microbiology.
