Student Alumni Association recruiting donors Jan. 14, 17, 23

Tuesday Jan 08, 2013

The Student Alumni Association (SAA) and Office of Alumni Relations at Indiana University Northwest are rallying to restock the shelves at area blood banks with a blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28 in the Moraine Student Center, located on the north end of the IU Northwest campus in Gary.

Current statistics report that someone in the U.S. needs donated blood every two seconds and more than 44,000 blood donations are needed daily. A single donated unit of blood can help save up to three lives.

To sign up for the American Red Cross blood drive, visit, and enter the sponsor code "iun" to schedule an appointment.  First time donors will need to create a profile.  Returning donors can log in by entering their e-mail address and date of birth as the default password.  Or, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (219) 980-6769.

SAA members will be signing up donors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14; from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17; and from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23 in the Moraine Student Center.

All donors will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card.
