Department of History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies

Welcome to the IU Northwest Department of History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religious Studies

Our department offers a large variety of courses in both traditional and online settings in four different programs taught by award-winning faculty.

The study of history, philosophy, political science, and religion offers meaningful insight into:

  • how humans have gone about making decisions in the past
  • how they make decisions in the present
  • how they should make decisions in the future

All four programs will help students gain a better understanding of human thought and behavior and develop critical thinking skills that can be applied in a wide range of industries and careers. A student who successfully completes one of our programs will not only be a more engaged citizen, but will also have a skillset applicable in numerous fields.
